The Toronto Maple Leafs rallied from a 3-0 deficit to beat the Nashville Predators 5-4 in overtime at Scotiabank Arena on Tuesday. Auston Matthews scored with 14 seconds left in overtime and finished with four points. No. 1 pick Gavin McKenna scored his first NHL goal and added an assist. Anthony Stolarz made 21 saves as Toronto improved to 2-2-0.

Alexis Lafreniere had a hat trick and an assist in the New York Rangers' 5-2 win over the New York Islanders at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers won their fourth straight game and opened 3-0-0 at home for the first time since 2009-10. Oliver Bjorkstrand scored twice, including a power-play winner late in the second period. Igor Shesterkin made 17 saves.

Jack Eichel had a goal and three assists and Tomas Hertl had two goals and two assists in Vegas' 6-2 victory at Seattle. Victor Olofsson scored twice before leaving with an injury in the third period. Mark Stone had a goal and an assist, and Carter Hart made 25 saves as the Golden Knights swept a two-game road trip.

The Chicago Blackhawks beat the St. Louis Blues 4-2 at United Center for their first win of the season in Patrick Kane's homecoming. Kane received a standing ovation during pregame introductions and had two shots on goal in 20:55 of ice time. Anton Frondell and Frank Nazar each had a goal and an assist. Spencer Knight made 26 saves.

Dylan Larkin scored a goal and added an assist in his season debut as Detroit beat Ottawa 5-3 at Little Caesars Arena. Alex DeBrincat had two goals and an assist, and John Gibson made 22 saves for the Red Wings' first win. Larkin missed the opening two games with an upper-body injury after a turbulent offseason.

The Pittsburgh Penguins visit the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on TNT in Washington's home opener. Colorado plays at Winnipeg at 7:30 p.m. Eastern, and Edmonton visits Anaheim at 10 p.m. Eastern on ESPN+.
