Sunday, October 4: Canucks edged at home, Kraken roll, and more NHL action

It was a full slate of NHL games on Sunday night, highlighted by a tight finish in Vancouver and a blowout win in Seattle.

The Vancouver Canucks came up short on home ice, falling 3-2 to the Vegas Golden Knights at Rogers Arena. The Golden Knights took the lead late in the second period and held on from there. Mitch Marner, Victor Olofsson, and Marc Gatcomb all scored for Vegas, while Paul Cotter and Jonathan Lekkerimäki tallied for Vancouver. Adin Hill stopped 18 of 20 shots for the win.

In Seattle, the Kraken cruised to a convincing 6-1 win over the Calgary Flames. Mackie Samoskevich led the way with two goals, while Joey Daccord made 32 saves to backstop the victory. Berkly Catton and Shane Wright also found the net for the Kraken as they kept the Flames at bay.

Anaheim treated the home fans to overtime drama, defeating the Florida Panthers 3-2 thanks to Mikael Granlund's power-play winner. Cutter Gauthier was the star for the Ducks, scoring twice and assisting on the overtime goal.

Over in New York, the Rangers made the most of their chances with a 4-2 win against the Utah Mammoth despite being outshot 30-22. Vladislav Gavrikov picked up a goal and an assist and Igor Shesterkin turned aside 28 shots for the win.
