The Calgary Flames defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 on October 18, 2026, ending Carolina’s 7-game winning streak. Yegor Sharangovich scored the deciding goal late in the third period at Scotiabank Saddledome. The victory was Calgary’s second of the season and improved the Flames’ record to 2-6-0.

Morgan Frost helped deliver the winning play with a pass across the slot to Sharangovich. Sharangovich met the puck with a one-timer and found the top corner. Frost also scored a power-play goal in the second period. Matvei Gridin supplied Calgary’s other goal, and Devin Cooley finished with 34 saves.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Jalen Chatfield scored for the Hurricanes, who dropped to 7-2-1. Brandon Bussi made 31 saves for Carolina. The Hurricanes had entered the game seeking an eighth consecutive victory, but Calgary stopped that run.

Frost finished with a goal and an assist for the Flames. His contribution helped Calgary overcome 2 Carolina goals and secure a regulation victory against the defending champions.
