Washington Capitals vs Seattle Kraken Game Analysis — Thursday, January 23, 2025
By Hockey in 60
Washington Capitals paired the victory with a 32–22 advantage in shots on goal, accounting for 59.3% of the two teams’ combined shots. That gives the result support beyond the scoreline: the winning side also put more attempts on target. Shot totals alone do not show the quality of those chances or how the balance changed while either team was protecting a lead.
Washington Capitals had no power-play opportunities; Seattle Kraken converted 0 of 1 power plays (0.0%). Neither team added a power-play goal, so neither gained a scoring edge from converting its man advantages.
Washington Capitals won 61.5% of faceoffs. That is a clear edge in restarts, but faceoff percentage should not be treated as a possession percentage: the totals do not show where the draws occurred or what happened immediately afterwards.
