Vancouver Canucks vs Seattle Kraken Game Analysis — Thursday, January 2, 2025
By Hockey in 60
Vancouver Canucks won despite being outshot 27–22. Seattle Kraken generated more shots on target, but the volume advantage did not translate into a better result. Because the game was settled in a shootout, the final score includes a deciding goal that is not a regulation or overtime shot. The totals establish a difference in conversion, but cannot separate finishing, chance quality and goaltending.
Vancouver Canucks converted 0 of 2 power plays (0.0%); Seattle Kraken converted 1 of 2 power plays (50.0%). Vancouver Canucks overcame a 1-goal disadvantage in power-play scoring, so its winning edge came from goals recorded outside the power play and the shootout decision. Those goals can include even-strength, shorthanded and empty-net situations.
