St. Louis Blues vs Florida Panthers Game Analysis — Friday, December 20, 2024
By Hockey in 60
Both teams recorded 27 shots on goal, so shot volume does not explain Florida Panthers’s advantage. The difference lay in the number of those shots that became goals, rather than in the number reaching the net. A box score alone cannot determine whether that reflected better chances, finishing or goaltending.
St. Louis Blues converted 0 of 2 power plays (0.0%); Florida Panthers converted 1 of 2 power plays (50.0%). The 1-goal net power-play edge matched the 1-goal final margin. This identifies special teams as a meaningful scoring difference, without proving how the game would have unfolded with different penalties.
