Winnipeg Jets vs Buffalo Sabres Game Analysis — Thursday, December 5, 2024
By Hockey in 60
Winnipeg Jets paired the victory with a 31–30 advantage in shots on goal, accounting for 50.8% of the two teams’ combined shots. That gives the result support beyond the scoreline: the winning side also put more attempts on target. Shot totals alone do not show the quality of those chances or how the balance changed while either team was protecting a lead.
Winnipeg Jets converted 1 of 5 power plays (20.0%); Buffalo Sabres converted 1 of 3 power plays (33.3%). Power-play goal totals were level, so the difference in the final score came from other scoring situations.
Winnipeg Jets won 55.2% of faceoffs. That is a clear edge in restarts, but faceoff percentage should not be treated as a possession percentage: the totals do not show where the draws occurred or what happened immediately afterwards.
